Aircraft Maintenance Technician

What is an aircraft maintenance technician?

An aircraft maintenance technician is the person who inspects, repairs and maintains aeroplanes and helicopters. In other words, they play a vital role, making sure that all components of the aircraft work correctly and meet the safety rules and regulations laid down in aviation.

To get this job, you need to study for the Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML). Once qualified, you will be able to enter the job market at airlines or at companies specialising in aircraft maintenance, whether on the line, in the hangar or in the workshop.

Below, we list some of the most important skills a good aircraft mechanic needs:

  • First, communication skills: essential for teamwork and communicating effectively.

  • Reading comprehension: essential for correctly interpreting technical manuals and drawings.

  • Problem solving: to identify mechanical faults and find efficient solutions.

  • Attention to detail: key to spotting possible errors during inspections.

  • Finally, manual dexterity: needed to handle tools precisely during maintenance.

TAKE THE COURSE AT OUR PART-147 ORGANISATION, APPROVAL ES.147.005.

You will receive an OFFICIAL Certificate

Theory and practical modules for the Aircraft Maintenance Licence, subcategory B1.1:

This certificate is issued by the Part-147 organisation, recognised by the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), in EASA format. From then on, you will be able to work for airlines or aviation companies. All your work will be checked and inspected by the company’s inspectors, who will ultimately sign it off, giving you “acceptance” for a period of two years. During this time you will gain the experience you need to work independently and become your own certifier.

The next step is to apply for your AML, the highest accreditation granted by the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) for working in aircraft maintenance. This licence will not only qualify you to repair aircraft but also to certify their repair and release to service (without which they cannot fly). You will become a professional in the sector, in the role you have always wanted.

What will you be able to do after the course?

When you complete the course, you will have the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to carry out maintenance on:

  • Fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft

  • Mechanical systems, equipment and components

  • Powerplant, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and airframe

All in line with the manufacturer’s specifications and the aircraft maintenance manuals.

What skills will you develop?

With this training you will be qualified to carry out maintenance, both scheduled and corrective, following faults in the aircraft’s main systems.
